Two-Factor Authentication
Add an extra layer of security to your LaunchStore account.
Overview
Two-factor authentication (2FA) requires a second verification step when signing in, protecting your account even if your password is compromised.
How It Works
When 2FA is enabled:
- Enter your email and password as usual
- Open your authenticator app
- Enter the 6-digit code displayed
- You're signed in
Setting Up 2FA
Step 1: Open Security Settings
- Click your profile icon in the top right
- Go to Account Settings → Security
- Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication
Step 2: Scan QR Code
- Download an authenticator app if you don't have one:
- Google Authenticator
- Authy
- Microsoft Authenticator
- 1Password
- Open the app and scan the QR code displayed
- The app will start generating 6-digit codes
Step 3: Verify
- Enter the current 6-digit code from your authenticator app
- Click Verify
- 2FA is now active on your account
Step 4: Save Recovery Codes
After enabling 2FA, you'll receive recovery codes.
Danger
Save your recovery codes in a secure location. If you lose access to your authenticator app, recovery codes are the only way to regain access to your account.
Using Recovery Codes
If you can't access your authenticator app:
- On the 2FA screen, click Use a recovery code
- Enter one of your saved recovery codes
- Each recovery code can only be used once
Disabling 2FA
- Go to Account Settings → Security
- Click Disable Two-Factor Authentication
- Enter your current 2FA code to confirm
- 2FA is removed from your account
Warning
We strongly recommend keeping 2FA enabled, especially for accounts with Owner or Admin roles.
Requiring 2FA for Team
Workspace owners can require all team members to enable 2FA:
- Go to Settings → Security
- Enable Require 2FA for all members
- Members without 2FA will be prompted to set it up on next login
Next Steps
- Activity logs — monitor account activity
- Team permissions — manage access levels
