Email Segmentation
Target the right customers with powerful audience segmentation.
Overview
Segments let you send relevant emails to specific groups of customers based on their behavior, purchase history, and attributes.
Creating a Segment
- Navigate to Marketing → Email → Segments
- Click Create Segment
- Define your segment rules
Segment Rules
Combine rules to define your audience:
Customer Attributes
- Location — Country, state, or city
- Sign-up date — Before, after, or between dates
- Tags — Customer tags you've assigned
- Email domain — Useful for B2B targeting
Purchase Behavior
- Total spent — Greater than, less than, or between amounts
- Number of orders — Order count conditions
- Last order date — Recency of last purchase
- Product purchased — Bought a specific product or from a collection
Engagement
- Email opens — Active or inactive subscribers
- Link clicks — Clicked in last N days
- Last visit — Visited your store recently
Combining Rules
Use AND / OR logic to combine rules:
- AND — All conditions must match
- OR — Any condition can match
Example Segments
VIP Customers — Total spent > $500 AND Orders > 5
At Risk — Last order > 90 days ago AND Total spent > $100
New Subscribers — Sign-up date < 30 days ago AND Orders = 0
Tip
Start with broad segments and narrow down as you learn what resonates with each audience.
